Das Deutsche Museum besitzt mit seiner Bibliothek eine international herausragende Sammlung naturwissenschaftlicher und technischer Literatur vom Ausgang des 15. Jahrhunderts bis zur Gegenwart. Der Museumsgründer Oskar von Miller sah Ausstellungen und Bibliothek als einander ergänzende Teile des Deutschen Museums. Heute ist die Bibliothek für Forschungen zur Wissenschafts- und Technikgeschichte von zentraler Bedeutung und dient gleichzeitig der Vermittlung naturwissenschaftlich-technischer Bildung. Das vorliegende Buch stellt erstmals umfassend die Geschichte und die Sammlung der Bibliothek des Deutschen Museums vor. Ein Blick in die Schatzkammer präsentiert uns Werke, die die Entwicklung von Naturwissenschaften und Technik in über fünf Jahrhunderten wesentlich beeinflussten. Diese als Libri rari bezeichnete Sammlung seltener und besonders wertvoller Bücher ist unter den technischen Bibliotheken weltweit einzigartig. The museum founder Oskar von Miller saw exhibitions and a library as complementary parts of the German Museum.
