Kant: entre Buffon y Cuvier (2012)

unapi

The justification of the concept of organized product of nature that Kant enunciated in the third critic is a response to the challenge to the use of final causes in explaining the conformation of organized beings that Buffon developed in the fifth volume of his Natural History; and the Principle of the Correlation of the Parties in the Organized Beings, enunciated later by Cuvier, can be considered the canonization of the Kantian concept. Cuvier, however, was forced to recognize empirical evidences that gave some reason to Buffon and that went against Kant's thesis. This paper proposes a counterpoint among theses thesis of those three authors.
