In 1838 the physician Giacomo Barzellotti published the book “Avvisi agli Stranieri.” This text contained a wealth of observations on Italian climate and on the different kinds of food which could be found in different regions. In fact, many foreign travellers had the custom to use their way of thinking even in Italy, where many things were so different and could be dangerous for their health.
