Glassmaking was a key industry for the production of colour in ancient Assyria and Babylonia. A rich source about Bronze Age glassmaking practices are the corpus of cuneiform procedural texts that are mainly preserved in later copies. This contribution examines the terminology relating to certain thermal operations (annealing, quenching) described in the texts.
