Künstliche Intelligenz in der Produktionstechnik - eine Kränkung des Ingenieurs? (Artificial intelligence in production technology - an insult to the engineer?) (2019)

unapi

Since its beginnings in the 1950s, the idea of artificial intelligent systems has served as a projection screen for anthropological questions and was described by the sociologist of technology Sherry Turkle as the fourth affront to the vain human self-image. Thanks to increasingly powerful computer technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is currently making the step from thought experiment to application. In the context of the digitalization of industrial production, which particularly affects high-tech and high-wage locations, the use of Kl has an impact on the professional image of the engineer, among other things. Is its role as a planner and decision-maker endangered by intelligent systems? This article presents first results from five interviews with scientists of the DFG Cluster of Excellence "Integrative Production Technology for High-Wage Countries".]
