[Abstract translated by Google Translate: This is the abstract in English… The principialism of Tom Beauchamp and James Childress has been the most widespread and influential model of justification for bioethical judgment at the international level for over 40 years, and has had the merit of providing the nascent bioethics with a sort of minimum common vocabulary (the language of principles) , which proved useful in a context marked by strong pluralism. Despite its notoriety, two risks are incumbent on the principialist approach: on the one hand, the trivialization, caused by the manual repetition of the four principles and their mechanical application; on the other hand, the misunderstanding, due to the only partial appreciation of the significant evolutionary parable of the model, especially in the most recent editions of Principles of Biomedical Ethics, the work in which the two American authors theorized and applied their ethical-normative scheme. This book explores principialism, through a path that reconstructs its historical-cultural genesis and theoretical structure, in order to highlight both its strengths and some serious theoretical problems still open. An in-depth knowledge of the approach appears to be an indispensable premise for a renewed critical debate.]
