After a survey of Galenic Latin manuscripts dating from the thirteenth century, which were connected with University teachings and with what Luis García Ballester has called «the new Galen», this paper focusses on two huge fifteenth-century collections: Paris, Académie de médecine 51-56 and Dresden, Sächsische Landesbibliothek Db 92-93. Prefiguring the editions of "Opera Galeni" printed during the Renaissance, both these collections reflect the intention of putting together the largest number of Galenic works possible, authentic and apocryphal. As some scholars have shown, they share common features, although no dependancy between the two exists. It means that they relied probably on similar models. It is claimed in this paper that among these models might be the manuscripts possessed by Jacques Despars (d. 1458), a master of Parisian Faculty of Medicine, who spent a large part of his life in Cambrai and Tournai. The contents of Académie de médecine and Dresden collections are compared with the list of the numerous Galenic works that Jacques Despars quoted in his commentary on Avicenna’s "Canon."
