The depiction of one of the deadly sins, envy, is almost invariably outlined in literature, in the arts, and specifically in physiognomy. I aim to investigate this vice within a centuries-old panorama in its iconographic and allegorical representation, obviously also paying attention to the moral implication of this emotion through the physiognomic signs richly illustrated in Della Porta's Fisonomia.
