[Abstract translated by Google Translate: This is the abstract in English… The history of paper manufacturing, almost always considered linear since its appearance in the eighteenth-century industrial revolution, is actually still largely unknown and underestimated, especially as an indicator of the political and economic weight of a state. Even today, the fact that there is talk of a constant loss of importance of this sector represents an extremely relevant fact, as it confirms the decline of the European-Atlantic market and the emergence of new players. The research presented in the volume therefore unfolds through the various moments that characterized the production and trade of paper products and raw materials (rags and glue) used to manufacture them: thanks to these three parallel paths - paper, rags and glue -, little-known facts, news and uses emerge, which allow us to understand how paper and paper products have been at the basis not only of the political and cultural development of today's society, but also of global trafficking and industrialization.]
