Note sur Giordano Bruno traducteur de l' "Ad lectorem" du "De revolutionibus" (2012)

Giordano Bruno's translation of the anonymous "Ad lectorem" introducing the "De revolutionibus" of Copernicus is of interest for two reasons. It is the first Italian version of this important text ever published, and thus deserves a linguistic analysis. Then, from a philosophical point of view, Bruno shows that this 'Advice to the Reader' does not represent the author's intention. As a matter of fact, Copernicus is not a mere mathematician proposing a useful device to save the phenomena, but – as Bruno argues – he ventures into territories traditionally reserved for natural philosophy, and demonstrates the motion of the Earth.
