The first Hebrew map of the Land of Israel as we know it was drawn by Rashi. Followed and drawn maps were printed by many Jews, who viewed the Land of Israel and its borders, the marches of Israel in the desert, the territories of the tribes, and biblical and Talmudic topics further. These maps are included and printed scripture and interpretive literature, Passover Haggadot, books of questions and answers, and connections to various rabbinic and maskilic. Many of the authors of the maps did not know the geography of the country, so their maps often reflect the perceptions and views about the country and its borders, and the mountains and valleys showing any certainty. The book presents the development of the Hebrew map along two axes: the traditional, dating back to the map of Rashi, characterized schematic maps, shaped as rectangles, and as simple squares without any artistic decorations. There stands the maps drawn in the footsteps of cartography and the discipline Christians. These maps authors copied the pattern in Geography and many artistic decorations, but tried - and stated explicitly for their efforts - to standardize and adapt them to the Jewish tradition. later these two axes, were created in the nineteenth century are tables showing the Holy Land a traditional format, derived from the paintings of holy places, and modern maps.
