[Abstract translated by Google Translate: This is the abstract in English… The De motu animalium (1680-1681) is among the most significant works of the Galilean school and represents a perfect synthesis between the scientific thought of the ancients, Archimedes and Euclid, and that of the moderns, Harvey, Malpighi and Galilei. These volumes offer the Italian reader, for the first time, the complete translation of the work, together with the reproduction of the eighteen tables that 'tell' the fascinating journey of Borelli in the complex animal machine. The author, thanks to the numerous experiments carried out over the course of thirty years, describes the external movements (running, jumping, swimming, flying, etc.) and the internal ones (circulation of blood, bile, spirits, etc.), using the laws of mechanics and fluid dynamics. At the end of this journey, Borelli's effort seems to be aimed at affirming that the geometric-mathematical principles that govern the motion of the stars are the same ones that govern the existence of animals: life is one, just as the laws that govern it are unique.]
