Par une approche matérielle des espaces et de la sociabilité des époux Brongniart au XIXe siècle, nous proposons dans cet article de reconstruire les pratiques quotidiennes de savoirs du savant minéralogiste Alexandre Brongniart et de son épouse Cécile Coquebert de Montbret. Ces pratiques sont régulées par une certaine diplomatie des espaces issue de l’habitus des notables parisiens. La focale se fixe sur Cécile afin de saisir son cheminement intellectuel et son implication dans la construction de l’œuvre du savant. Les pratiques sociales de la science apparaissent dans une harmonieuse collaboration, inscrite dans une spatialité privée, domestique ou institutionnelle des lieux des sciences
