Legno e falegnameria tra Medioevo e Rinascimento. Storia, materiali, tecniche e utensili (2021)
Questo testo intende fornire una visione il più possibile organica e completa sulla storia della filiera del legno, dall’abbattimento degli alberi fino alla realizzazione di manufatti di varia natura, con un focus particolare sul periodo medievale e rinascimentale. Rievocatori storici, artigiani, così come semplici appassionati degli aspetti tecnico-evolutivi legati alla trasformazione della materia prima, sono inizialmente condotti in una illuminante esplorazione delle fasi di approvvigionamento e pezzatura preliminare dei tronchi, al fine di evidenziare la maniera in cui esse influenzavano direttamente tutte le operazioni successive, nonché gli stessi arnesi impiegati. Di seguito si entra nel vivo dei diversi metodi di lavorazione tradizionale del legno, attraverso continui raffronti tra i dati emersi dalle fonti storiche pervenute e gli esperimenti effettuati sul “banco di prova” dallo stesso autore. Si analizzano nel dettaglio, inoltre, i principali attrezzi utilizzati dai falegnami (i marangoni di antica memoria), mettendone in luce la progressiva implementazione in base alle diverse funzioni alle quali essi erano preposti. Il tutto è corredato da immagini e schede esplicative, illustranti i passaggi chiave del confezionamento di numerose repliche di oggetti storici lignei, svolti con procedimenti filologicamente corretti. The book then gets to the heart of the different methods of traditional woodworking, through comparisons between the data that emerged from the historical sources and the replications performed on the "test bench" by the author.
