Towards the Identification of the Terrestrial Globe Carried on the 'Heemskerck' by Abel Tasman in 1642-43 (2016)

The purpose of this article is to review theories on the identity of the terrestrial globe carried on the Heemskerck during Abel Tasman's voyage of discovery in 1642-43. During the voyage, Tasman discovered parts of Tasmania, part of New Zealand's west coast, and the islands north and northwest of New Zealand. The globe was a vital item in the navigational equipment available to Tasman and his officers.
