An interjection on negative results and the replicability of results) (2023)

unapi

The contribution analyzes two important problems in relation to the complexity of biomedical research today. First, it addresses the question of the epistemological significance of negative results and their disclosure. On the other hand, it addresses the question of the epistemological significance of the often unrealizable replicability of results. Arguments are proposed for the position that the presence of contradictory, i. e., both positive and negative, results within a series of experiments should not diminish the reliability of the sciences themselves in the public mind, since the alleged contradictions represent a new opportunity to reapply the scientific method.
