Gu Yingxiang (顧應祥) (1483-1565) was a major Chinese mathematician in the sixteenth century. Since the end of the eighteenth century, however, he has usually been regarded as a mediocre figure, one who merely represents the decline of mathematics during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
