Seattle's first street railway opened in 1884. Soon private trolley and cable car lines ran throughout the city, and hillside properties became prized building lots. In 1918, Seattle voters approved municipal ownership, and the Seattle Municipal Railway operated for another two decades. Through narrative, maps, and previously unpublished photographs, author Mike Bergman delivers a detailed jaunt through Seattle's fascinating streetcar era. (Publisher)
