The Crossroads of Hellenistic and Sanskrit Science (2016)

Here we examine the parallels in the philosophical thought of Greek and Indian civilizations, especially regarding physics and mathematics (namely the Pythagorean theorem and the use of a gnōmōn to determine the East-West axis). We then explore the documented interactions of Alexander and his philosopher traveling companions with the Gymnosophists of India. Finally we discuss the Yavana Jātaka of Sphujidhvaja, an astrological text produced from the synthesis of Greek and Indian astronomies.
