Richard, Sébastien (Author)
Not so long ago, physics was still called natural philosophy. Would the two disciplines be so far apart today that they would have nothing to retain from each other, either in their object or in their method? The present Philosophical History of Physics sets out to prove the contrary. It shows that philosophy has never ceased to exert its influence in the formation of the concepts of physics and to feed its necessary reflection on its method. Conversely, through these selected examples, it is also shown here how much physics has constituted a privileged source for the reflection in philosophy of sciences, in the 20th century.
