Las "mentiras" científicas sobre las mujeres (2017)
A lo largo de la historia de la ciencia, las mujeres han sido objeto de afirmaciones, hipótesis y teorías que han inducido a errores muy graves, justificando su estatus subordinado e invisibilizando, ocultando e inventando temas relacionados con su cuerpo y su salud. Además, apenas existe un imaginario que reconozca a las mujeres como sujetos de conocimiento científico y la “naturaleza” femenina o “lo humano” se han representado a partir de lo masculino. La pregunta es si el “sexo” o la “raza” del sujeto de investigación son relevantes para el conocimiento o, mejor dicho, si la diversidad y la democracia en una comunidad científica influyen en mejores formas de hacer ciencia, más objetivas y justas socialmente. Sabemos que la presencia de mujeres en la ciencia no es condición suficiente para una mejor ciencia, aunque sí necesaria, porque cuando se hace desde el punto de vista de grupos excluidos de la comunidad científica, se identifican muchos campos de ignorancia, se desvelan secretos, se visibilizan otras prioridades, se formulan nuevas preguntas y se critican los valores hegemónicos. Este libro aporta una visión crítica de la historia de la ciencia para fomentar una investigación que sea consciente de los sesgos de género y los efectos de la ignorancia, con el objeto de hacer una ciencia mejor y más responsable.
