[English translation by DeepL.com: The herbarium preserved in the museum of the Col-legi Sant Ignasi-Jesuïtes de Sarrià in Barcelona is a sample of the botanical work, still little known, that existed in Spain at the beginning of the 20th century. The Ramon d'Alòs-Moner scholarship of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (call for applications 2018) has allowed us to get to know the herbarium of the old Institut Biològic de Sarrià, of 3,853 plants, as well as its main collector, the father Jaume Capell Bellmunt SJ (Torregrossa, 1907-Montevideo, 1965). His botanical involvement in Spain, Brazil and Uruguay resulted in almost 7,700 herbarium collections and multiple contributions to the knowledge of Spanish and South American flowers. In this work we offer a biography, until now inexistent, of Fr. Capell, based on direct research in original sources, as a contribution to the knowledge of the botanical history of the central period of the 20th century in Catalonia, Spain and some areas of South America.]
