The subject of this volume is the history of Curare, a curative arrow in the long eighteenth century. On the basis of printed and hand-written primary sources, the process in which the South American arrowhead was turned from an exotic and enigmatic substance into an object of historical historical curiosity, later on to an experimental object and finally to a potential drug, was described in this curative research. The path of the curare as a concrete material substance, which moved in a network of European scientists, is described in detail. At the same time, the different experimental practices developed in the context of this network for the investigation of curare. Finally, some of the adjectives recurring in the Curare narrative are interpreted from different perspectives: on the one hand, as part of a colonial discourse on the maintenance of transcontinental power, and on the other as the power of the experimenter on the poison And thus on the life and death of the experimental animals.
