Elle rassembla certains des plus grands noms des sciences sociales françaises du XXe siècle : Marc Bloch et Lucien Febvre, Marcel Mauss, Georges Friedmann, Ignace Meyerson, ou encore, parmi le public, Georges Canguilhem et Jean-Pierre Vernant. Publiés pour la première fois en 1948, les actes de ce colloque ne furent ensuite jamais réédités. Ils constituent pourtant une des rares traces sur ce que furent les sciences sociales dans ces années noires et révèlent ce que l'expérience de l'antifascisme a bousculé dans leur inconscient épistémologique."
