The article published by Vidinli Tevfik Pasha in the journal Mebâhis-i İlmiye on the derivatives and series expansions of Logx and Arctanx functions, and its evaluationIn 1868, Vidinli Hüseyin Tevfik Pasha published an article in the journal of Mebâhis-i İlmiye, titled “Postscript of Monsieur Sofle which was about derivatives and series expansions of logx and arctanx”. This article is the translation of the article which Abbé Soufflet published in the journal of Nouvelles Annales de Mathématiques, 12 volume in 1853.In this paper, I could do an assessment about how derivatives and series expansions of logx and arctanx were introduced into the mathematics of Ottoman period. And thus, I tried to indicate why Vidinli’s article is significant for the mathematics of Ottoman period.
