Un splendide ouvrage illustré qui revient sur l'histoire du MHN et met en lumières les joyaux de ses collections.Au début du XIXe siècle, quelques savants genevois se regroupent pour mettre en commun différents cabinets de curiosités et créer ainsi le Musée académique... institution exclusivement destinée à l'enseignement des sciences, de l'histoire et des arts. Mais ces érudits sont de mauvais gestionnaires. La Ville de Genève, appelée au secours, rachète le Musée en 1820 et l'ouvre au public... C'est le début d'une grande aventure. Deux cents ans après sa fondation, le Muséum d'histoire naturelle de Genève accueille 15 millions de spécimens et 300 000 visiteurs par an. Et l'aventure n'est pas près de s'arrêter, puisqu'un projet d'extension et de réorganisation du musée est sur les rails.Ce splendide ouvrage revient en images sur l'histoire du MHN et met en lumière les joyaux de ses collections.
