[Abstract translated by Google Translate: This is the abstract in English… Entomotherapy is the use of arthropods (especially insects) or their products for the treatment of various diseases; its origin root back into antiquity, and it is found in the traditions of many countries as an integral part of what is known as "ethnomedicine." The best-known apitherapy is part of entomotherapy and is widely used in Western countries. Recently, entomotherapy remedies have started to be increasingly considered by official medicine and numerous scientific researches have been carried out on drugs (especially derived from traditional Chinese medicine) which see as their main component parts of insects or their products. Among these, the poison of various species has, in particular, attracted the attention of researchers and the substances with pharmacological activity that have been obtained from this secretion add up to several hundred. This book aims to present a panorama, albeit limited, of the entomotherapy practices in use today, with the hope that the important indications given by traditional medicine will be increasingly subject to deepening by scientific research. The million and more species of Arthropods present on our planet represents, in fact, an inexhaustible source of substances with pharmacological activity of which we begin, only recently, to understand the enormous potential.]
