[Abstract translated by Google Translate: This is the abstract in English… The reconstruction of the relationship of the Bourbons of Naples with the intellectuals in the decade 1789-1799 allows us to read a progressive fraying and, after the conspiracy of 1794, an ever greater opposition. One of the most relevant examples is Nicola Fiorentino (1755-1799), difficult to label in the rather generic category of "Enlightenment", who very dated studies insist on sewing on him, without facing an overall study of the person, the environment and the elements of political culture that distinguished him. His life and thought, in fact, must be contextualized in the period in which there was the confluence between the Enlightenment and the classical and republican tradition which, through nuclei of solid political-scientific culture, stimulated the debate on the new tasks of government. It was a transition from a culture linked to design to one based on action, which found a factual model of total renewal in the symbols and concepts of classical derivation.]
