This chapter firstly gives an overview of Kaogong ji from four perspectives—nationality, nature, ideas and written time. The in the second part, structure and contents of the work are introduced. In the third and fourth part, the author gives a further account of the academic value of Kaogong ji and the scientific knowledge covered in it. Finally, the versions’ origins and the research work done on Kaogong ji are told of to help people know the work better.
