[Abstract translated by Google Translate: This is the abstract in English… Presumably composed in Paris around 1270, the De luce is a book that, like the much better known De oculo morali by Peter of Limoges, is placed at the crossroads between different disciplines, environments and communicative contexts: theology and optical science, university teaching and mendicant preaching, technical treatises and pastoral tools. In this manual, the Franciscan Bartholomew of Bologna summarizes numerous information about physical light and, through a series of articulated analogies, finds a spiritual correspondence for each aspect or phenomenon. Like other members of his order (including Ruggero Bacone, Giovanni Peckham, Matteo d’Acquasparta, Servasanto da Faenza), the friar thus contributes to the dissemination and reinterpretation of fundamental knowledge also for the literature and art of the time. A new edition of the text is presented here, accompanied by an accurate description of the handwritten witnesses. Ample space is also reserved for the reconstruction of Bartolomeo's biography, work and intellectual profile, with the aim of bringing out the role that the author and his work play within the great tradition of thirteenth-century perspectiva.]
