Science continues to be the guarantor of social problem solving. However, the cognitive and institutional framework for this has changed. The diversity of relevance, criteria and perspectives in the provision and weighting of knowl- edge must be recognized and productively put into relation. In this context, an old question, namely the problem of collective judgment, is gaining renewed importance. This contribution explores how the interactions of experts and laypeople in the epistemic no-manʼs land between the academic field and other social subfields can be understood in relation to the challenges of collective judgment formation. Wissenschaft ist weiterhin Garant gesellschaftlicher Problemlösung. Die kognitiven wie institutionellen Rahmen- bedingungen hierfür haben sich jedoch geändert. Die Vielfalt von Relevanzen, Kriterien und Perspektiven bei der Bereitstellung wie Gewichtung von Wissen müssen anerkannt und produktiv in Relation gesetzt werden. Dabei gewinnt eine alte Fragestellung, nämlich das Problem kollektiver Urteilsbildung, wieder an Bedeutung. Der Beitrag untersucht, wie die Interaktionen von Experten und Laien im epistemischen Niemandsland zwischen akademischem Feld und anderen gesellschaftlichen Teilbereichen in Bezug auf die Herausforderungen kollektiver Urteilsbildung verstanden werden können.
