Das Ehepaar Hahnemann und der Arzt Jean-Marie Dessaix im Netzwerk der französischen Homöopathen (The Hahnemann’s and the doctor Jean-Marie Dessaix in the network of French homeopaths) (2020)

unapi

This article aims at reconstructing the biography of an important French homeopath of the first generation, the physician Jean-Marie Dessaix, which is facilitated thanks to recently discovered sources. Starting as a military physician during the Napoleonic wars, Dessaix practised decades before converting to homeopathy at age of 50. In Lyon he became an active propagator of the new system publishing brochures and books adressing various publics, when the lack of French language publications still hampered its diffusion. He was integrated to Hahnemann’s inner circle in Paris. The active role of Hahnemann’s wife Mélanie establishing this network is underlined.
