L'introduction des courbes algébriques par Descartes : genèse et inauguration. Complément à la conjecture de H. Bos sur le rôle historique du problème de Pappus (2016)
This note revisits Henk Bos's reconstruction of Descartes' resolution of the Pappus problem. The aim is first of all to stress the importance of this reconstruction. Turning then to Henk Bos's analysis of the introduction of algebraic curves in La Géométrie, which he developed from that reconstruction, this analysis is confronted with the one proposed by the author on the basis of the concept of an inaugural text.
