In the early decades of the twentieth century, any serious philosophical position in Germany could not evade the confrontation with the heavy (although very fruitful) legacy of Kant, mainly because of the renaissance that it took shape with the neo-Kantian schools of Marburg and Baden. Even the young Helmuth Plessner, along a training path that led him from scientific studies to a passion for philosophical anthropology, was forced to deal with Kant's thought and to maintain a direct line with his work over the years.
