[Abstract translated by Google Translate: This is the abstract in English… The ancient and medieval magical-astrological legacies, the hermetic doctrines filtered through Byzantine works that arrived in Italy with the fall of Constantinople, and the growing interest in the Jewish cabal, which spread in Europe after the expulsion of the Jews from Spain, determined the spread of a special kind of magic: natural magic. The Renaissance magician was the one who read human history in the stars, he was the wise par excellence able to interpret the signs of the sky intended as a divine message. In this climate of mysterious and obscure philosophical doctrines the figure of the doctor-magician appears, busy in his workshop, with filters and stills, in search of power to heal all ills. Especially the '500 was a century of astrologers and alchemists who sought the philosopher's stone and the way to produce living matter. Teachers of magical arts in the guise of clerical vagantes, but also adventurers, fortune tellers and swindlers, traveled across Europe from one end to the other selling horoscopes and boasting arcane paranormal knowledge. They were the contradictions of the age of the Reformation and the conquest of the New World, an era in which we began to have an experimental knowledge of nature, but in which we also continued to rely on that "natural magic" as the sole instrument of domination human on occult forces.]
