unapi

This article analyses initiatives to organize the fight against cancer in Argentina between the early 1920s to mid 1940s. Specifically, it focuses on the initiatives of the Instituto de Medicina Experimental, a hospital-research institute dependent on the Facultad de Ciencias Médicas of the Universidad de Buenos Aires that played a key role in this process. This paper considers the organization of the medical attention within the establishment, knowledge awareness campaigns, and the intents to incorporate cancer as a topic in the professional curricula and scientific research linking cancer and life styles.
