[Abstract translated by Google Translate: This is the abstract in English… The volume analyzes the relationship between politics, science and technology in the arms sector during the Fascist regime in Italy (in the decade 1935-1945) from various points of view: in addition to retracing the stages and main protagonists in the various fields (from aeronautics to the navy , from telecommunications to applied chemical industry) the author pays particular attention to the aspects of the construction of the collective imagination connected to the theme of military and industrial power. In fact, this led to the setting up of a communication apparatus. The encounter between science and power, between research and development institutions of war practice, constitutes an essential legacy from World War I. The awareness of this fusion and its frightening, or magical, contents belongs to the entire European context and animates, with different signs, both the operational and doctrinal hypotheses of the theorists of technological warfare, as well as the national policies of science and, finally, the expectations and fears of the populations in the interwar period. In this context, both terrible and liberating virtualities were attributed to science and particular applications of war technology, that is, such as to decide with magical rapidity the fate of a possible conflict, through a sudden and decisive irruption on the battlefield or on the living body of the enemy. The myth of decisive weapons arising directly from military applications of unexpected discoveries or inventions is part of that climate and runs through different social and national contexts for at least a decade before the new world war. The charismatic dimension of Mussolini's power will find one of its basic elements in this prodigious resource.]
