Il volume prende in esame le vicende polemiche, relative a casistiche mediche e chirurgiche, nel Principato Vescovile di Trento della seconda metà del Settecento. Il tema del trattamento della tisi polmonare fu affrontato dal medico Matteo Salvadori (1736–1808) di Mori con un’integrazione di diverse terapie, che rivoluzionava le idee del tempo. Ciò da un lato provocò accese polemiche in sede locale, ma fu apprezzato soprattutto dai medici che avevano abbracciato le idee giacobine durante il periodo rivoluzionario francese e si diffuse in gran parte dell’Italia settentrionale.
