Li, Hui (Author)
Based on chapters 41 and 42 of the Mahavaipulya-mahasanni-pata Sutra, this article discovers the dates dominated by the 28 lunar mansions divination system, including the parameters of each mansion, dates dominated by the 28 lunar mansions calendar system and its transformation in the Chinese context, and the divining statements of each date. Exploration into this divination system will enhance,on the one hand, our understanding of the historical context of astronomy in Buddhist scriptures, and on the other, our understanding of communication between China and India in the domain of astronomy and astrology.
