[Abstract translated by Google Translate: This is the abstract in English… These essays address the triple relationship between the nature of science, the structure of progress and the essence of freedom. The speculative path crosses the history of Western civilization in its entirety, from the Greek sophists to the Cypherpunk movement, passing through Periclean Athens, Republican Rome, Bacon's England, Voltaire's France, the modern scientific revolution, school Austrian economics and American libertarianism. The philosophical dispute underlying the work is the state/individual dialectic in all its declinations. With particular attention to recent advances in computer science and their social implications, the topic of decentralization arises as the inevitable outcome of the discussion. The thesis supported by the author is that decentralization is a consequence, not an obstacle, of centralization: the former is a product of the latter.]
