The De anatome, morsu et effectibus tarantulae (The anatomy, the bite of the tarantula and effects; Rome 1696; Geneva, 1698) by Giorgio Baglivi had a huge publishing success and has been the subject of numerous studies. Baglivi questions about the anatomy of the tarantula, on its habitat, the nature of its poison and the effects that it produces on the human and animal body. The analysis of these elements becomes an opportunity to sing the praises of the region where most are cases of the tarantula bite, Puglia, and to list the benefits of more effective therapies: music. Including descriptions of landscapes and experience stories, ranging from laboratory experiments to the presentation of clinical cases, we show that the only antidote to the venom of the spider is running tarantella, which allow the patient to dance and then eject the disease through movement and sweat.
