At the end of the 19th century the author and scientist Johanna Schultze- Wege initiated an opus on basidiomycetes combining scientific and popular knowledge. The final manuscript was probably intended to contain self-made watercolours as illustrations. Unfortunately, J. Schultze-Wege was unable to finish her work. Nevertheless, almost 100 years later this work is still of historic and scientific value.
