English summary: Berlin celebrates its sciences. The anniversaries of some of the oldest and most prestigious science facilities are the reason for the large-scale exhibition "WeltWissen" in the Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin, that tells of a metropolis dominated by science and with an often contradictory history. Even at the beginning of the 18th Century Berlin was, in comparison to other residences, a city without unique characteristics, a scientific province. But within a few decades, Berlin rose to become one of the leading European centers, producing a rapidly increasing density of educational and research institutions with a large number of scientists whose findings can claim global importance. With a wealth of exhibits and texts, the exhibition and catalog show the rich diversity and dynamics of past and current research, which have led Berlin to become the science center that it is today. By no means, however, is only the image of a great success story presented. Next to outstanding and groundbreaking ideas and enduring inventions that stand the test of time can be found errors and mistakes, breaks and new beginnings. Science appears, therefore, not only from the perspective of its results, but above all as part of cultural practices: as a search, experiment, argument, doctrine, and political vehicle. German text. Die Jubiläen einiger der ältesten und renommiertesten Wissenschaftseinrichtungen sind Anlass fuer die groá angelegte Ausstellung "WeltWissen" im Martin-Gropius-Bau, die Berlin als eine durch und von Wissenschaft geprägte Metropole mit oft widerspruechlicher Geschichte zeigt. Noch zu Beginn des 18. Jahrhunderts galt Berlin im Vergleich zu anderen Residenzen als Stadt ohne Eigenschaften, als wissenschaftliche Provinz. Doch stieg sie binnen weniger Jahrzehnte zu einem der fuehrenden europäischen Zentren auf, das neben einer rasch zunehmenden Dichte an Bildungs- und Forschungsinstitutionen eine Vielzahl von Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern hervorbrachte, deren Erkenntnisse bis heute Weltgeltung beanspruchen duerfen. Mit einer Fuelle von Exponaten und Texten zeigen Ausstellung und Katalog den Facettenreichtum und die Dynamik vergangener und aktueller Forschung, die Berlin zu der Wissenschaftsmetropole haben werden lassen, die sie noch heute ist. Dabei wird keineswegs nur das Bild einer groáen Erfolgsgeschichte entworfen. Neben herausragenden, die Zeiten ueberdauernden Ideen und wegweisenden Erfindungen finden sich hier ebenso die Um- und Abwege, die Irrtuemer und Verfehlungen, die Brueche und Neuanfänge. Wissenschaft erscheint mithin nicht nur aus der Perspektive ihrer Ergebnisse, sondern vor allem als Teil kultureller Praktiken: als Suche, Experiment, Streit, Lehre und als politisches Vehikel.
