The paper first found the acoustic phenomenon of the "cross cave"in the ancient stage of Chaoshan Temple in Xiaohu Village in Pingyao. With the modern acoustic measurement method,we measure the acoustic characteristics of the "cross cave ". The result shows that the"cross cave"has the functions of amplifying the volume,beautifying the timber and optimizing the structure of the musical structure. On the basis of the quantity,distribution and acoustic characteristics of the compound ancient stage,the paper speculates that the construction of the ancient stage is distinctive in Shanxi and is the result of the constant development and integration of architectural art and Chinese theatrical music in folk.
