[Abstract translated by DeepL.com/Translator: This is the abstract in English… Achille Spatuzzi was a university lecturer in hygiene and chief physician of the municipality of Naples after the political unification of the Italian peninsula. An author of essays concerning nutrition, medical statistics, and public hygiene, he is an exemplary figure of the season of hygienism, which from the Unification up to the Great War affected with considerable repercussions and developments not only medicine and health, but also legislation, administration, and custom. As a physician with a neo-Hippocratic and "ecological" outlook, he was nevertheless able to recognize the soundness of the microbiological discoveries that revolutionized biomedical knowledge at the end of the 19th century.]
