Abstract: This book it is not only focused on history of chemistry, but provides a very useful overview of Spanish science from the Modern period to the present. It studies the continuities and discontinuities existing in the production of scientific knowledge in Spain in the last five centuries. It also analyses carefully the relationship between the Iberian Peninsula and the Americas during the Enlightenment, and the creation of many scientific institutions in the early 20th century, many of them related to chemistry.
