[Abstract translated by Google Translate: This is the abstract in English… The first comprehensive study devoted to Tommaso Bozio (1548-1610) - prolific anti-Machiavellian writer, theologian and author of the treatise under the title "De signis Ecclesiae Dei" (1591), as well as iconographer of the Borghese Chapel in the Roman basilica of S. Maria Maggiore - this book presents Bozio from a novel perspective. Beyond the usual image of the 'standard bearer' of the Counter-Reformation Church emerge the lively reading predilections "de naturalibus et artificialibus rebus," and so, too, do his relations with Federico Cesi, the physician Joannes Eck, co-founder of the Accademia dei Lincei, and the Bolognese mathematicus Vincenzo Badalocchio. The personality of a scholar master of a stratified and interrelated cultural device, properly encyclopedic, is thus delineated: a Bozio admirer of Della Porta, equipped with a copy of Galilei's Sidereus nuncius (1610), deeply interested in the renewal of naturalistic knowledge taking place in the late sixteenth century and the dawn of the following century.]
