This book is an in-depth study of the inherent links Galileo established between his own work and Copernicus’ thought. The main thesis is that the Pisan scientist identified in the natural philosophy and cosmology of the "Revolutions" such radical and wide-ranging conceptual changes, to draw from them the basic framework within which to develop a mathematized science of motions, which would unify in a single rational structure the heliocentric planetary orbits and phenomena on the earth, so as to complement and supplement Copernicus’ achievements
