Ausstellungen finden nicht nur in Museen und eigens dafür gebauten großen Hallen statt. Seit dem 19. Jahrhundert lässt sich parallel zur Einrichtung professioneller Labore in den Natur- und Lebenswissenschaften eine Sensibilität für das Ausstellen und räumliche Präsentieren vermerken. Aus dieser Bewegung entwickelten sich die ersten Wissenschaftsmuseen, aber auch Laborpräsentationen, deren Relevanz für die zunehmende Musealisierung unserer modernen Alltagskultur bislang kaum erkannt ist. Wurde in den letzten Jahren vermehrt das Augenmerk darauf gerichtet, welchen zentralen Stellenwert Museen in der geistes- wie naturwissenschaftlichen Forschungslandschaft besitzen, kehrt dieser Band die Perspektive um und fragt danach, welche Präsentationspraktiken aus den Museen und Ausstellungen in die Wissenschaftsräume diffundierten.
