This book proposes answers to these questions in some twenty original studies on Brazil, Cameroon, China, the United States, France, Japan, and the Soviet Union. It focuses on the long twentieth century in which the colonial order, political antagonisms, and the division of the world into two blocs played a crucial role in regional interconnections and interdependencies. In their analyses of the circulation of techniques, the authors of this book endeavor to follow the displacements as closely as possible in order to show their complexity and the permanent work of requalification that takes place, so much so that techniques and their bearers are transformed in the course of their dissemination and their arborescence. In fact, globalization does not mean a homogenization of the socio-technical worlds. The technical circulations change the territories of the economy and the relations between the countries, the inequalities and the cleavages between the rich countries and the poor countries.)
